“Balya” means “Good” in Gugada/Kokatha, the Aboriginal language of the Far West Coast of South Australia. (You may see the same name being spelt “Palya” in the northern Aboriginal languages which has the same meaning).

The logo is a yarning circle, the dots representing knowledge, with “Balya” centred representing language keeping our culture connected.

ABOVE ALL, IT REPRESENTS - CULTURE,COMMUNITY & CONNECTION

The Far West Languages Centre is proud to stock merchandise from young local woman, Letisha Ackland. Letisha is the Founder, Executive Producer and Production Manager of Balya Productions and is also the creative designer of her own logo and merchandise. The Far West Languages Centre assisted in making sure the spelling of the word “Balya” in her logo is correct for the language group, and stocking a large range of “Balya” branded items.

For each “Balya” branded item sold by the Far West Languages Centre, around $5 to $10 goes back to Balya Productions, helping Letisha and her team to bring events to Ceduna and the Far West Coast region. For more information and updates from Balya Productions, click the link below.
